Psychological Assessment

Anxiety
Treatment for Anxiety

Normal worry is relatively short-term and leads to positive behavior of solving problems. However, worry becomes unhelpful when it repeatedly occurs and is related to many things; it is difficult to control or dismiss. Symptoms may include feeling restless, physical tension, sleep disturbance, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and exhaustion quickly—anxiety troubles people of all ages, from children to geriatrics.

Depression
Treatment for Depression
Relationships

The symptoms of depression such as weariness, lethargy, loss of interest, loss of motivation, loss of pleasure, and indecisiveness can lead to inactivity, which often keeps the depression going or even worsens. As a result, they may neglect day-to-day tasks and responsibilities at work or home. The worklist keeps piling up, and, eventually, one feels overwhelmed. The person may feel guilty and believe that one is a failure, further worsening the depression.

Family Therapy

Family can be viewed as a system. Family members seek attention, approval, and support from others while reacting to their needs, expectations, and distress. People in the family system are highly connected and interdependent in their thoughts, feelings, and actions. As a result, when a family member becomes anxious, the emotion can spread to each other and intensify. Hence, the symptoms of an individual member are possibly a reflection of the unresolved heightened emotions in the family system.

Family counseling or therapy can help to identify the family dynamics, causes changes in the family system, and enhance the functioning of the family and individual members.

Couples Therapy
Marital Counseling

In a successful marriage, the couple mutually supports hopes and aspirations and constructs a sense of meaning in living together. However, there are signs when something goes wrong in the marriage. It starts with criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling in the interactions. Either partner may feel overwhelmed with the negativity of the other, resulting in stonewalling as a form of protection. The couple, or at least one party, feels severe emotional distresses accompanied by intense bodily sensations. They may attempt to repair the relationship but in vain most of the time. Eventually, the good memories in the marriage are distilled, leaving only the bad memories of marriage. At this point, the marriage is close to an end; the minds of both parties are unable to communicate, and reparation is almost impossible. Marital counseling may help to improve the marital interactions for willing people.

Trauma
Play Therapy

Play therapy is primarily used to help children explore their lives and express repressed thoughts and emotions through play. Treatment typically occurs in our safe, comfortable playroom, where very few rules or limits are imposed on the child, encouraging free expression, and allowing the therapist to observe the child’s choices, decisions, and play style. Play therapy is to help children with social or emotional difficulties learn to communicate better, change their behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and relate to others in positive ways.

Adolescent Therapy
Adolescent Therapy

Adolescents have unique challenges of struggling with identity and self-image,  a time of confusion and conflict. They feel that friends’ acceptance is crucial. Teens may also start to notice a sense of distance from parents and family, want to be on their own, and make their decisions. They may feel overwhelming and even lonely at times. Also,  the body starts producing sex hormones in puberty, causing emotional ups and downs that sometimes feel out of control. It is sometimes difficult to tell if the mood swings are developmental or suffering from mood disorders.

An early sign of mood problems is withdrawing from things they usually enjoy, accompanied by mood changes like sadness or irritability. Depressive symptoms may include starting eating or sleeping much more or much less, and the academic result deteriorates. When suffering from anxiety, they tend to avoid things they’re afraid of, like new activities or social situations. If you notice any of these signs in your children’s daily life and not going away over time, they may have a mood disorder. It’s essential to get help early.
